So what exactly is 'Bridget's Bites?'

Have you ever heard the saying, “Nothing changes if nothing changes?”
Most can agree that this statement can be applied to all aspects of life- from your career, to your eating habits, to your overall lifestyle, in general. However, let’s focus on the dietary aspect of change.
Many people that come to me to lose weight tell me they want to change, but don’t know how or where to start. This opens up the conversation of “what are you willing to do right now?” or, “Let’s assess your current lifestyle and discuss where we can begin.” My focus is not to instill change overnight (because, let’s be real, that is not realistic), but to empower individuals to make small changes over the course of time, and, in turn, develop new, healthy habits. Bridget’s Bites was created with a strong emphasis on helping people change without changing everything all at once. It’s taking one “bite” or step at a time in a new direction.
My style of counseling is using a “SMART” goal approach to develop an action plan, and, continuously working with my clients through the six stages of change in overcoming struggles with food and nutrition. Oftentimes, clients cycle through the six stages of change before they reach their goals and action plans are modified periodically in an effort to stay congruent with what the individual is going through at any given point in time. The SMART goal approach is an effective, structured way to measuring success and to identify areas of improvement of one’s goals and objectives. In counseling adults, especially in healthcare, this has been proven to be the most powerful method of creating viable changes in people. This is why I have adapted this technique in my own practice and counseling sessions.
So yes, “nothing changes, if nothing changes.” BUT…..“small changes result in BIGGER changes, overtime.”
Happy and Healthy Always,
Bridget
